Franklin Houston will kick off the evening with the second installment in his three-week series of long-time favorite dances. Dancers will be able to increase their core repertoire and learn to lead. Franklin plans to add more favorites (including Alunelul Batut), so be sure to come at 7!

Franklin Houston

We’re back and Hancock.Franklin Houston will be our DJ this week. He will be assisted by Adriana Kelly. Franklin will feature a number of dances that were popular in the early years of AIFD.

NEW, DO, REVIEWFranklin will begin the evening by leading the group through a set of perennial favorites that are both easy and fun to do. They will be taught again over the subsequent two weeks to help dancers increase their core repertoire and even learn to lead the dances!

Friay, July 3 – No Dancing. Happy Independence Day.

Come at 7 for some great teaching; Rebecca Hample will teach Istanbul, by request. Then Robert Sampson will teach To ting as well as Cotton Eyed Joe, a traditional line dance from the 1800s.

We were fortunate to have Ercüment Kılıç, the legendary teacher of Turkish folk dances, at AIFD on June 5, 2026. He taught us three dances and gifted us a lovely collection of MP3 music. Find all these materials at this link.
