Home Grown Contra Band November 12th

Homegrown Contra Band will play two fun-filled sets of couple dances at Austin International Folk Dancing on Saturday, November 12, 2011.
Each set will include one contra, Scandinavian and other couple dances. The band will begin playing at 9 P.M.
Homegrown Contra Band has been the featured contra band at the Texas International Folk Dance Camp since 2004. The band is composed of the following members: Anne Alexander – fiddle, Norris Foster Harrell – keyboard, Dena Houston – guitar, Franklin Houston – accordion and trumpet, Holly Plotner – fiddle and Joane Rylander – mandolin.
The band members are long-time Texas Camp attendees and members of Austin International Folk Dancers, who came together to provide a “homegrown” flavor to contra. They love playing for their friends and, whenever possible, like to add a little “international” twist to traditional contra tunes.
The band has performed at many contra dance venues in Austin, including First Friday Contra, Third Saturday Contra and Austin International Folk Dancers.
