HOMEGROWN was formed in 2004 to play contra music at Texas Folk Dance Camp. It has been the featured contra band at Texas Camp since that time.

Since all of the bandís musicians had expertise playing international folk dance music as well as contra music, the bandís focus gradually shifted to being an international folk dance band, with a little contra music thrown in.

The band is composed of the following members: Anne Alexander (fiddle, saz, hurdy gurdy, percussion, vocals), Norris Foster Harrell (keyboard, vocals), Dena Houston (guitar, percussion), Franklin Houston (accordion, trumpet, flute), Holly Plotner (fiddle, percussion, vocals) and Joane Rylander (mandolin, vocals).
