Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Live Music on Saturday, February 11th. Slavadillo will treat us to some great live music while Franklin programs the rest of the evening.
Special teaching for that evening – Valentine’s dance THE FRENCH WALTZ or valse à onze temps, an 11 count waltz taught by MICHEL BREGER The 11-count Waltz has been done in France for a long time. It descends from the 5-count waltz that first emerged in Europe in the 1850’s as an alternate form of the standard 3-count waltz. The pattern is: two 3-count waltz measures, a 2-count measure and one more 3-count waltz measure, for a total of 11 counts. It is an example of the type of waltz best done in place (such as the Fleckerwalzer and the Bavarian dance family of Zwiefacher). Bring an item for a pot luck dessert. |
